CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines — Police have filed criminal charges against a policeman tagged in the fatal shooting of his fellow officer and a mayor’s aide in Maragondon, Cavite.
Charges of double murder and frustrated murder were filed on Thursday before the Office of the Provincial Prosecutor against Cpl. Rolando Periodico Jr. of the Trece Martires police.
The charges stemmed from the death of S/Sgt. Junmark Sisante of the Magallanes police and Arjay Mojica, a mayor’s security aide, whom Periodico allegedly shot at a resort in Barangay San Miguel A on Wednesday.
Another policeman, Cpl. Novinidhon Climacosa, was wounded in the incident, which was reportedly sparked by an argument between the suspect and victims.
Earlier, Philippine National Police chief. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. ordered the conduct of summary dismissal proceedings against Periodico.
National Police Commission-Calabarzon chief Owen de Luna said the Napolcom would conduct its own investigation to determine the cause of the shooting.
