Dani Barretto, Dennis Padilla trade remarks on abuse claims

MANILA, Philippines — Actor Dennis Padilla got into another heated online tirade with former stepdaughter Dani Barretto about claims who between him and ex-wife Marjorie Barretto was abusive during their marriage.

Dani appeared on Kylie Verzosa's "Almost Honest" podcast, a clip of which was posted online about Dani sharing how she and her siblings grew up listening to their mother being at the receiving end of yells and screams.

She praised her mother for leaving that relationship, without naming the partner, and credited Marjorie as the reason why Dani and her siblings have strong personalities.

"You can leave, you are allowed to leave situations lalo na if you're abused, being hurt, or not valued," Dani said. "Puwede, hindi ka trapped... There is a freedom that comes with it."

In a now-deleted comment, Dennis responded saying he would address what Dani said in points, claiming that he felt abused ever since Marjorie was pregnant with Dani — whose father is actor Kier Legaspi.

"I felt liberated nung nakawala ako sa relationship na sinasabi mo," Dennis also said. "Huwag masyadong mayabang. Wala kang alam. Half lang alam mo."

Dani clapped back, making it clear that Dennis was the person she was referring to in the podcast. She pointed out that living in the same house meant hearing Dennis screaming in the morning either at Marjorie or the help.

"This is what you always do, use social media to 'defend' yourself and spread more lies and gaslight your children and now me," Dani said. "You keep pushing this narrative na kinawawa ka. Weren't you the abusive one?"

She even claimed that Dennis would call his children past midnight when he was drunk only to curse and shout at them, "And now know it all pa ko? Ikaw na naman kawawa? Si mom na naman sisiraan mo. Enough is enough."

"All your kids know who you are. That’s why most of them have no communication with you — because you burned bridges with each of them," Dani ended. "Pero sa kuwento mo, sila ang mali at ikaw pa rin ang kawawa. Make it make sense."

Dennis' children with Marjorie are Julia, Claudia, and Leon. Marjorie also had Erich with former Caloocan mayor Enrico "Recom" Echiverri.
