Denise Laurel is a loud and proud K-pop fan!
On Monday's episode of "Fast Talk With Boy Abunda," the actress talked about how she got into K-pop world.
Asked about her bias, Denise would not pick anyone but said she got the most starstruck with ASTRO member Cha Eun Woo.
"He looks unreal. I hosted his fanmeet," she said. "He looked like AI and he was so mild-mannered and professional."
"Mas guwapo pa siya in person than how you see him on TV and he's very kind, very professional. May pinagdadaanan siya noong time na 'yon pero he's still powered through his work and he still delivered."
According to Denise, she has been a K-pop fan since 2010.
"I used to be an MTV VJ. I love music. I used to go to K-pop events when I was very young, noong sinasabi pa nilang jologs siya," she said.
She got busy with her career, but when the pandemic happened, Denise said she started to watch TV and listen to music again.
"Noong pandemic, I finally got time to watch TV again, to watch YouTube again to listen to music because not only I am an actor, I'm also a mom, so I really dedicate my time to make sure that I'm everything all at once," Denise said.
From attending fan meets when she was younger, Denise has become a regular host of K-pop fan events.
"Noong end ng pandemic, when people are going out already. Just for fun, I was like: 'Hey, do you guys need a host? It's a hobby for me, like you don't have to sweat it. Like don't even pay, like it's what I want to do. I just want to have fun.' I know I can do it because I used to do music and concerts back in the days," she said.
For Denise, being into K-pop events is just her having fun because she got to hang out with and talk with her fellow fans.
"So when I'm hosting, it's just really like we're just all hanging out," she added.
Denise currently stars in GMA Afternoon Prime series "Prinsesa ng City Jail" with Sofia Pablo, Allen Ansay, and Beauty Gonzalez. It airs weekdays at 3:20 p.m. after "Lilet Matias: Attorney-At-Law."
