MANILA, Philippines — Diesel will see a P2.90-per-liter rollback at the start of December, breaking a month-long streak of weekly hikes, even as gasoline slightly edges up and kerosene declines, oil firms announced Monday.

Kerosene will also see a big-time rollback of P3.20 per liter, while gasoline will rise by P0.20, effectively reversing last week’s P0.20 cut. The mixed pump price adjustments will take effect on Tuesday, December 2.

The Department of Energy’s Oil Industry Management Bureau (DOE-OIMB) attributed the price drop to shifting global market sentiment amid Ukraine’s meeting with American delegates to explore a potential peace deal with Moscow.

Assistant Director Rodela Romero said the talks could pave the way for lifting sanctions on Russian oil, which is one of the world’s biggest producers. The United States has since been trying to broker a peace deal by threatening Russia with sanctions should it not cooperate.

US President Donald Trump's latest ceasefire plan, however, proposes that Ukraine give up control of some eastern regions to Russia and agree not to join NATO. In return, the US would commit to defending Ukraine through a coordinated military response if Russia attacks again.

The 28-point plan also states that, if Moscow accepts the terms, sanctions would be lifted and $100 billion in frozen Russian assets would be used to help rebuild Ukraine, with a promised long-term US-Russia partnership.

Trump remains hopeful about the peace deal, but Ukraine has reportedly rejected giving up any territory not currently under Russian control, and Russian President Vladimir Putin shows few signs of compromise as Moscow continues to launch drone attacks against Kyiv while the plan was being drafted.

Last week, diesel prices climbed by P0.60 per liter, while kerosene rose by P1.30 per liter. This brings the year-to-date increase to P21.75 per liter for diesel and P6.75 per liter for kerosene. Gasoline, meanwhile, remains at a record-high P19.90 per liter.

According to DOE's monitoring, the prevailing fuel prices at Metro Manila pump stations from November 25 to December 1 are:

  • Gasoline (RON97/100) - P66.96
  • Gasoline (RON95) - P57.00
  • Gasoline (RON91) - P55.50
  • Diesel - P60.65
  • Diesel Plus - P63.55
  • Kerosene - P82.85

While these figures represent average Metro Manila prices, certain stations sell gasoline for P49 to P80.38 per liter, and diesel as high as P77.29 per liter.
