BACOLOD CITY — The municipal government of Toboso in Negros Occidental is planning to give financial assistance to the evacuees displaced by the encounter between the rebels and military troopers on Tuesday, Councilor Richard Jaojoco said.
Jaojoco said that the assistance will be a form of a localized Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) program of the Department of Social Welfare and Development.
He said they will request from the Commission on Elections for an exemption for the planned localized AICS.
The encounter between the members of the Philippine Army's 79th Infantry Brigade and about seven New People's Army remnants took place at about 7:12 a.m. on March 18 in Sitio Bairan, Brgy. General Luna in Toboso, Negros Occidental.
Three soldiers were injured in the encounter. They are now in stable condition, according to Col. Erwin Rommel Lamzon, chief of the 3ID public affairs office.

A report from Jaojoco revealed that there were 122 families composed of 412 persons were affected by the clash.
As of 1:45 on March 19, 32 families or 113 individuals are temporarily staying at the Amparado Elementary School and 79 families composed of 263 persons are housed at the Gen. Luna covered court.
Jaojoco said his wife, incumbent Mayor Madonnah Jaojoco, treated the evacuees to a dinner of lechon or roasted pig on Wednesday.
"The mayor loves them as she has been in the evacuation sites for two nights already," he said.
Jaojoco said the Army already gave clearance for the evacuees to return to their homes on Thursday.
Mayor Jaojoco, in Executive Order 12, revoked her previous EO suspending classes in all levels in Brgy. General Luna and Tabun-ac, thus classes shall resume on March 21.
