Shortly after the release of the affordable DJI Osmo Mobile 7P smartphone gimbal stabilizer, the company also released a new gimbal that’s suitable for both cameras and smartphones: the DJI RS 4 Mini.
It’s lightweight, coming in at just 890 grams, and it supports devices up to two kilograms.
Aimed at creators who need quick, efficient setups, the RS 4 Mini introduces automated axis locks, a feature previously seen in DJI’s high-end models. There’s also a Teflon coating for smoother balancing.
The gimbal has second gen auto-axis locks that allow for unlocking the three-axis system in a second, helping speed up filming, transitions, and storage. It also features a 3rd-gen native vertical switch for a faster switch between orientations.
For tracking, the RS 4 Mini Combo comes with DJI’s Intelligent Tracking Module, enabling subject tracking from up to 10 meters away, even in complex environments. The said tracking module can connect securely to the gimbal via a magnetic mount.
Tracking can be activated via the trigger or an open-palm visual cue. The gimbal also includes a new Responsive Mode, which improves its reaction to fast movements.
Battery life has also been improved, with up to 13 hours of use on a full charge, and a 30-minute recharge time providing up to five hours of use.
Price and availability
The DJI RS 4 Mini is now available in authorized retailers nationwide such as Henry’s Cameras, with a starting price of PHP 16,590.
There’s a Combo option that goes for PHP 20,690 that includes an additional briefcase handle for low-angle handheld shooting.
