MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Health has reported seven deaths out of the 1,113 road accidents recorded in 10 DOH sentinel hospitals from Dec. 21 to Jan. 2.
In its latest data, the DOH said five of the fatalities were from accidents involving motorcycles while the other two involved pedestrians.
The number of accidents is 82 percent higher than the recorded road crashes posted in the same period last year.
Of the number, 135 victims were under the influence of liquor while 965 did not use safety accessories such as helmet and seatbelt.
