Filipino actors Dolly de Leon and Jon Jon Briones are set to join seasons 2 and three of the live-action iteration of 'Avatar: The Last Airbender' on the streaming platform Netflix.

On Instagram, Netflix posted a photo of seven new cast members, including Dolly and Jon Jon, joining the original cast members.

Dolly is set to play twin Lo and Li, the elderly advisers and fire-bending instructors to Princess Azula, while Filipino-American Jon Jon will play the swords master and instructor to Sokka and Zuko, Piandao.

Dolly and Jon Jon are the most recent additions to the growing list of Filipinos in the cast, joining Lurdes Fabres who is set to play the Earth Kingdom officer General Sung. Filipino-Canadian actor Gordon Cormier, meanwhile, leads the series as the titular character Aang.

In a press release, Dolly expressed her excitement and how honored she is to be a part of the live-action version of the animated classic.

“It's my first time to play twins, which is the best fun in a creative process. It's a dream come true.” Dolly said

It can be recalled that Gordon and Dallas Liu, who plays Prince Zuko, visited the Philippines last February for a fan event.

'Avatar: The Last Airbender' premiered on Netflix on February 22, 2024. In March, after the first season ended, the online streaming service immediately announced that the series had already been renewed for both seasons 2 and 3.

Meanwhile, here are more Filipino celebrities who have starred in international films and series.
