THE Department of Tourism (DOT) extended its warmest greetings on Monday to Muslim brothers and sisters worldwide as the Holy Month of Ramadan came to a close.
"Eid al-Fitr is a time of reflection, gratitude, and unity — a celebration of faith, compassion, and community," Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco said.
"It is also a meaningful reminder of the richness and diversity of our nation's cultural and spiritual heritage," she added.
Frasco also reaffirmed the DOT's commitment to advancing Halal and Muslim-friendly tourism in the Philippines, aligning with the Marcos Administration's vision of promoting inclusive and sustainable tourism.
"We are proud to work with our stakeholders in the tourism industry to ensure that the Philippines continues to be a welcoming and accessible destination for Muslim travelers in the Philippines and from all over the globe," Frasco said.

Halal tourism refers to the tourism component that conforms to Muslim travelers' faith-based needs.
The DOT has also been actively pushing Halal and Muslim-friendly tourism through its flagship Philippine Experience Program (PEP): Heritage, Culture, and Arts Caravan, launched in various places in Mindanao.
The DOT has also issued modified guidelines for the operation and recognition of Muslim-friendly Accommodation Establishments (MFAEs) and signed a memorandum of understanding with Megaworld Hotels & Resorts to convert all 13 of its properties into MFAEs.
Frasco also announced the DOT's lined-up Muslim-friendly Travelogue for the Philippines, which would be laid out in three volumes and feature Islamic history, travel locations and gastronomic pleasures.
