MANILA, Philippines — Police on Tuesday linked to robbery cases the accomplice of a gunman who shot dead Manila Mayor Isko Moreno’s former security escort.
Liegem Bulalacao, alias Biboy, admitted that he has been charged seven times for robbery and theft.
Bulalacao said he had no direct ties to Albert Magdaraog, the alleged killer of retired police officer George Capistrano.
“I met him in 2018 at a court hearing. We’re not a group, but there are many more who commit this crime around Manila,” Bulalacao said. “I was only with him three times: in Cabanatuan, in Baguio and here in Manila.”
Bulalacao said he only worked as a driver for Magdaraog.
Bulalacao claimed he did not know that killing Capistrano was part of the plan.
“If I knew that Magdaraog was going to kill him, I wouldn’t have joined him,” Bulalacao claimed.
He apologized to Capistrano’s family and urged Magdaraog to surrender.
