ILOILO CITY — A 64-year-old driver of a tourist transport van was killed on the spot in a tragic head-on collision with a passenger bus early Monday morning, along the national highway in Barangay Fragante, Pandan, Antique.
The fatal crash involved a white van and a Ceres Liner bus.
The van's driver, a resident of Barangay Jumarap in Banga, Aklan, was declared dead on the spot due to massive head and body injuries.
The van was reportedly operated by a private hotel in Boracay and was not carrying any passenger at the time of the accident.
Initial reports from the Pandan Municipal Police Station indicate that the van, reportedly traveling at high speed from Kalibo, veered into the opposite lane on a blind curve and collided head-on with the oncoming bus.

CCTV footage from the area confirmed that the van crossed the center line before the collision.
The Ceres bus, which was en route to Kalibo and carrying 20 passengers including the driver and conductor, crashed into the van and subsequently plowed into a concrete house near the roadside.
The impact destroyed part of the house's front terrace and concrete post.
At least 11 individuals sustained injuries and were brought to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. The 48-year-old bus driver, a resident of Barangay San Francisco in Tibiao, was also injured.
Police said the weather condition may have also contributed to the incident, citing the wet, slippery road due to intermittent rain.
