MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and the Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) will work together to help medium and large enterprises list on the local bourse for growth.

In a statement, the DTI said Trade Secretary Cristina Roque met with PSE president and CEO Ramon Monzon on Jan. 20 to discuss the collaboration.

The parties agreed to jointly work on a memorandum of agreement to formalize the collaboration in helping businesses explore listing on the PSE.

Roque said many companies have already expressed interest in listing.

“This is going to support them for their expansion,” she said.

She said joining the local bourse would help further strengthen businesses and create jobs.

For his part, Monzon welcomed the initiative to help businesses interested to list on the local bourse.

“We are fully committed to partnering with DTI to educate potential medium and large enterprises about listing in the exchange under our Listing Engagement and Assistance Program (LEAP),” he said.

Through the LEAP, the PSE offers a one-stop shop service to potential listing applicants.

Services provided include one-on-one advisory sessions, access to readiness assessment forms and other materials and assistance in connecting potential clients to seasoned initial public offering advisors.

Earlier, Roque met with the Philippine Retailers Association and encouraged its members to consider joining the PSE as a pathway for growth.

She said the DTI wants to help the retail sector grow given its contribution to job creation.
