CEBU CITY — Despite being detained in The Hague and sidelined from active politics, former president Rodrigo Duterte's influence remains strong in Cebu, where his endorsed senatorial candidates dominated the local vote tally.
As of the latest partial results of Commission on Elections on May 15, 11:07 a.m., Duterte-backed candidates, especially those from the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban), have been getting the most number of votes in Cebu.
Sen. Bong Go tops the Cebu count with 1,817,038 votes, followed by Sen. Ronald dela Rosa with 1,605,897 votes.
Another PDP-Laban bet, Jimmy Bondoc, is third with 995,729 votes. Independent candidate Rodante Marcoleta, endorsed by the former president, ranks fourth with 921,246 votes, while Camille Villar of the Nacionalista Party, who was endorsed by Vice President Sara Duterte, is fifth with 907,574 votes.
Bam Aquino of the Kilusang Nasyonalista para sa Bayan (KNP) garnered 888,651 votes while Phillip Salvador of PDP-Laban received 886,875 votes.

Raul Lambino of PDP-Laban obtained 841,880 votes, Jayvee Hinlo of PDP-Laban has 786,412 and Erwin Tulfo of Lakas gathered 766,847 votes.
Independent candidate Vic Rodriguez, who was included in the DuterTen, secured 681,638 votes.
Sen. Pia Cayetano of Nacionalista Party received 670,577 votes to round out the top 12 most voted senatorial candidates in Cebu.
Trailing behind were Kiko Pangilinan of Liberal Party with 661,973 votes, Lito Lapid of NPC with 587,222 votes and Imee Marcos of Nacionalista Party with 576,162 votes.
During the campaign period, the vice president visited Cebu and traced her roots in Danao City where the Duterte clan came from.
Overall, Go leads the senatorial race with 26,490,710 votes, followed by Aquino with 20,637,824 and Dela Rosa with 20,273,810 votes.
Some local candidates identified with the Dutertes in Cebu also won in the polls.
