IBA, Zambales — Gov. Hermogenes Ebdane Jr. and 10 other candidates allied with his homegrown Sulong Zambales Party (SZP) dominated the elections here on Monday, May 12.
The Commission on Elections (Comelec) proclaimed Governor Ebdane and other winners early Tuesday morning, May 13, at the Comelec office here.
Ebdane garnered 306,367 votes (90.85 percent) in a landslide win that ensured his third consecutive term as governor of the province. His opponent, Ayta leader Chito Balintay, who ran as an independent, received 30,857 votes (9.15 percent).
Election results also gave the SZP and allied parties eight seats each for both mayoral and vice mayoral posts in the 13 municipalities comprising Zambales.
Ebdane's recent election is his fifth elective victory. He first ran and won as governor in 2010 and was re-elected three years later.
