Eldrew Yulo bags another vault medal from the Artistic Gymnastics Asian Championships after nailing gold in 2024 and silver in 2023

MANILA, Philippines – Eldrew Yulo, 16, won a vault medal at the junior level of the Artistic Gymnastics Asian Championships for the third consecutive year as he bagged silver in Jecheon, South Korea, on Sunday, June 8.

Yulo averaged 13.850 points in the final to continue his medal streak in the continental showdown after nailing gold in Uzbekistan in 2024 and silver in Singapore in 2023.

Adding to the Philippines’ medal haul after his older brother Carlos earned gold in floor exercise and bronze in individual all-around, the younger Yulo posted 13.900 points from his first vault and 13.800 points from his second.

Two home bets clinched the other podium spots, with Bak Jun-woo striking gold with an average of 13.933 points and An Dae-geon getting bronze with an average of 13.783 points.

Yulo missed out on winning multiple medals in a single Asian championships edition for the first time as he placed fourth in pommel horse.

Garnering 12.600 points, Yulo fell short of the bronze won by Japan’s Harutoshi Ochiai (12.666), while Kazakhstan’s Roman Khegay (13.800) and Nurtan Idrissov (12.866) scored gold and silver, respectively.

Yulo advanced to the finals of four of the six apparatuses, finishing sixth in floor exercise (12.266) and eighth in horizontal bar (12.033).

He also fared well in the all-around last Friday, June 6, as he posted the ninth-highest score. – Rappler.com
