MANILA, Philippines — Pasig Mayor Vico Sotto has appointed former International Criminal Court (ICC) judge and University of the Philippines College of Law dean Raul Pangalangan as the founding dean of the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Pasig School of Law.
Pangalangan, who specializes in public international and constitutional law, presided over the first ICC case involving the war crime of attacking cultural and religious heritage.
He also had experience with ICC landmark cases on child soldiers, forced marriages and sexual slavery.
Pangalangan is a member of the Permanent Court of Arbitration in The Hague, Netherlands while serving as the chairman of the Philippine National Group at the PCA.
In his message, Pangalangan shared his hope of helping to establish a law school that could be a “beacon of hope” at a time when the country faces numerous challenges.
He will be joined by lawyers Peter John Javier, who will serve as vice dean for academics, and Josephine Lati-Bagaoisan, acting vice dean for administration.
