MANILA, Philippines — Nicolas Torre III, the former lead figure in the arrest of former president Rodrigo Duterte, made a joking reference on Wednesday to the case of the International Criminal Court (ICC) involving Sen. Ronald dela Rosa.
In a Facebook post, Torre mock-arrested retired Navy commander Ferdinand Dino Juan, who reportedly shared similar features with the ICC-wanted senator.
“Huli ka! Ay, Class ’79 pala…” captioned Torre.
The former chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP) played an important role in the arrest and transfer of Duterte in 2025 at The Hague, Netherlands where he is currently facing trial on charges of crimes against humanity.
Now serving as the general manager of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority, Torre maintained that he has “no regrets” in carrying out the arrest, stating that he only acted within the ambit of the law.
Dela Rosa, also a former PNP chief, was recently revealed to have an arrest warrant from the international court for the same charges as Duterte.
However, Torre emphasized in a separate interview that serving the arrest warrant against the senator should not be about revenge, but should be treated as a strict law enforcement operation.
