Press Release

MANILA, Philippines — Honoring the extraordinary leadership of local chief executives, the Exemplar City Mayor Award has been launched by the Federation of Filipino-Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry Inc. (FFCCCII) and Angelo King Foundation Inc. (AKFI).

“We are looking for city mayors who have spent the last six years creating a legacy – building environments where transparency, financial sustainability, economic resilience and human development are not just goals, but realities,” FFCCCII president Victor Lim said.

“Our goal is to incentivize innovation and set a gold standard for leadership, proving that inclusive growth is already happening in our very own cities,” he added.

Mayors currently serving their third consecutive term in the same city are qualified for the award, ensuring that nominees have a proven track record of stability and progress.

Candidates will be evaluated based on their performance from 2019 to 2024 using a weighted scoring system: integrity of governance and capacity to prevent graft and corruption (40 percent), financial governance (20 percent), business-friendliness and competitiveness (20 percent) and human development (20 percent).

Candidates must be nominated by local chambers or regional board members of the FFCCCII.

Nomination is open from March 17 to April 30. The winner will be proclaimed in June.

Lim attended the launch ceremony on March 17 at the Federation Center in Manila. With him were AKFI chairman Ernesto Garilao and president Teddy Kingsu.
