MANILA, Philippines — The country’s umbrella group of exporters is optimistic about continued growth in merchandise exports this year following the strong performance as of end-November last year.
In a statement, the Philippine Exporters Confederation Inc. (Philexport) said it is upbeat on the continued growth of the country’s exports of goods this year.
“Our export performance in the past four months has really been encouraging amidst the generally bearish global demand,” Philexport president Sergio Ortiz-Luis Jr. said.
Data from the Philippine Statistics Authority showed that the country’s merchandise exports from January to November 2025 went up by 14.5 percent to $77.40 billion from $67.60 billion in the same period in 2024.
The 11-month tally was also higher than full-year 2024’s merchandise exports valued at $73.27 billion.
In November last year, Philippine merchandise exports rose by 21.3 percent to $6.91 billion from $5.70 billion in the same month in 2024.
The year-on-year growth in November exports was supported by strong demand for electronics, agro-based products and consumer goods.
Ortiz-Luis said Philexport hopes to sustain the exports growth momentum this year.
Earlier, Trade Secretary Cristina Roque said that the continued rise in exports shows growing acceptance for Philippine products overseas.
“The remarkable growth in electronics, food products and consumer goods reflects growing global demand and supports jobs, incomes and wider opportunities for our exporters,” she said.
DTI-Export Marketing Bureau director Bianca Pearl Sykimte said the United States’ move to lift reciprocal tariffs on key agricultural products in November last year would provide a level playing field for Philippine food exporters in the American market.
“Coupled with gains in other markets from strategic export development and promotion initiatives, we see continued momentum for food exports and a more inclusive growth ahead,” Sykimte said.
