In a reel posted by Facebook page Laban Para Sa Pilipinas on July 1, footage from a protest was falsely presented as showing a group of Muslims attending the second day of the INC rally.

The post read:

July 1, 2026 ( Day 2): Dumating na ang ating mga kapatid na Muslim upang makiisa sa INC. We are one!

The reel was reshared by several Facebook accounts and pages, including two accounts with 194,000 and 428,000 followers.

Facts

Contrary to the claim, the footage was taken at a protest in Cotabato City and not during the INC rally in EDSA, as shown by multiple visual indicators.

Visual markers match the Bangsamoro Government Center along Gov. Gutierrez Avenue in Cotabato City, where the footage was filmed.

The footage was filmed in front of the Bangsamoro Government Center along Gov. Gutierrez Avenue in Cotabato City, as shown by a comparison between a screenshot from the video and Google Street View images.

Multiple visual cues in the footage point to a BARMM-related gathering, including an “Ibalik si Chairman Murad” placard, UBJP and “We Support the BARMM” shirts, and a Bangsamoro flag.

The viral clip also contains several indicators linking it to a gathering related to the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) rather than the INC rally, including a placard reading "Ibalik si Chairman Murad," participants wearing United Bangsamoro Justice Party (UBJP) and "We Support the BARMM" shirts, and a Bangsamoro flag being waved.

These calls and symbols are unrelated to the INC rally held along EDSA.

Supporters of Ahod Balawag “Al Haj Murad” Ebrahim, former chief minister of BARMM, staged a rally on June 25, urging Malacañang to reinstate him.

An individual with matching clothing and a green flag appears in both the viral video and a separate Facebook reel posted on June 25, suggesting the footage was taken at the same gathering.

A separate Facebook reel posted on June 25 shows an individual who appears to be the same person seen in the viral video, wearing a similar camouflage hat, face covering and dark jacket while carrying a green flag, further suggesting that both videos were taken at the same gathering.

Why we fact-checked this

INC staged a three-day rally in support of Sen. Rodante Marcoleta, who now faces a plunder case after the Office of the Ombudsman filed charges before the Sandiganbayan on Friday, July 3.

The protest was held at the EDSA People Power Monument in Quezon City on June 30 and July 1 before transferring to Liwasang Bonifacio in Manila on July 2 after the Quezon City government revoked its permit.

Marcoleta's plunder case stems from P75 million in campaign funds that he received in January 2025 but did not declare in his Statement of Contributions and Expenditures after the May 2025 elections.

Since it was posted, the viral reel has garnered over 75,000 views, 1,000 shares and 700 comments, with the total number of reactions hidden.
