Filipino-led researchers discover method to detect ‘shear line’

MANILA, Philippines — A Filipino-led team of international researchers has discovered a new physics-based algorithm capable of detecting the weather system called “shear line.” A shear line, as the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration defines, occurs when the northeast monsoon (amihan) converges with easterlies, or the warm winds coming from the Pacific Ocean.
