(1st UPDATE) The Dubai Civil Aviation Authority suspends flights at the international airport 'as a precautionary measure'

The Dubai Media Office said on Monday, March 16, that authorities dealt with a fire resulting from a drone attack in the vicinity of the Dubai International Airport, adding that no injuries were reported.

This comes as Iran’s media operations center warned residents in specific areas in Dubai, Doha of possible attacks in the coming hours, reported Iran’s Press TV.

Dubai authorities said the drone attack hit a fuel tank and the civil defense teams were working to bring the fire under control. Civil Defense teams reportedly contained fire resulting from the impact.

The Dubai Civil Aviation Authority announced temporary suspension of flights at the international airport “as a precautionary measure,” the media office posted on X.

Saudi Arabia also intercepted 34 drones in its eastern region in one hour, its state TV reported.

Gulf Arab states have faced more than 2,000 missile and drone attacks since the outbreak of the US-Israeli war on Iran on February 28, with targets including US diplomatic missions and military bases but also critical Gulf oil infrastructure, ports, airports, hotels and residential and office buildings.

The United Arab Emirates, which normalized relations with Iran’s arch-foe Israel in 2020, has faced the brunt of the attacks. But all Gulf Arab states have been affected, and all have condemned Iran. – Rappler.com
