MANILA, Philippines — Japan’s largest home furnishing company Nitori is opening more stores in the Philippines, according to First Lady Liza Marcos.
Marcos made the announcement in her official social media account following a lunch meeting with Akio Nitori, founder and chairperson of Nitori Holdings, in Makati on Monday.
The meeting was also attended by “other executives and our friends from the business community,” Marcos said.
Nitori opened its first store in the Philippines in 2024.
“Nitori told us that they would be opening 100 or more stores in the country,” Marcos said.
“Excited to see how this growing partnership will create employment opportunities for Filipinos. Thank you for investing in our country,” she added.
President Marcos embarked on a four-day state visit to Japan last month, resulting in $3.4 billion or roughly P210 billion in investment commitments from Japanese companies.
