NOVELETA, Cavite —Construction of a flood control project to address the perennial flood problem is set to commence soon as the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) finally conducted an ocular inspection on Feb. 5.
Noveleta is practically serving as a catch basin in the entire province during the rainy season, but with this flood control project, the overflow of water from several rivers that often cause major flooding in Noveleta will finally be avoided.
The ocular inspection in the area was conducted by DPWH flood control project manager Leo Mendoza, Noveleta Mayor Dino Chua and municipal engineer Ariel Olaes.
The project got a greenlight in January 2025 from President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to resolve the long-standing flood problem in Noveleta and neighboring towns in Cavite.
The Noveleta Floodway Project is part of the Cavite Flood Control Project, which is a series of structural and non-structural flood mitigation measures in Cavite.
