MANILA, Philippines — A man from South Korea was arrested after he was caught with P40.8 million worth of shabu at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 in Pasay City on Monday.

The 64-year-old suspect, identified only as Ralph, was apprehended at the airport’s customs international arrival area at around 10:45 a.m., according to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA).

Ralph was taken into custody after authorities noticed suspicious items in his backpack at the X-ray screening counter.

When his bag was inspected, police found around six kilos of shabu concealed in wooden boxes and plastic wrapped with duct tape and carbon paper.

The PDEA said the suspect’s travel documents, identification cards, cellphones and other personal belongings were confiscated.

The suspect is being held on drug charges.
