AUTHORITIES apprehended four Chinese allegedly involved in fraud and smuggling during an operation in Barangay Nueva Vida, M'lang, Cotabato, on Monday.

The suspects were identified as Liu Dezhen, Tang Zhongyi, Tianpei Wu and Wang Lian Xu.

The suspects' arrest came following a coordinated effort by the Bureau of Immigration, the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Region 12 (Soccsksargen), the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Region 12 and the Philippine National Police (PNP) M'lang Munisipal Police Station, with support from the Joint Task Force Central and the 6th Infantry (Kampilan) Division of the Philippine Army.

The arrested individuals were allegedly engaged in fraudulent activities that include smuggling operations at the Alpha Household Miscellaneous Chemical Products Manufacturing in Barangay Nueva Vida, M'lang, North Cotabato.

Upon investigation, authorities discovered they were either working without valid visas or had misrepresented their visa status.

Maj. Gen. Donald Gumiran, commander of the Kampilan Division and the Joint Task Force Central (JTFC), highlighted the military's crucial role in supporting law enforcement agencies.

The 6th Infantry Division (6ID)/JTFC helped secure the operation site and ensured the Bureau of Immigration's (BI) mandate was executed without disruption, adhering strictly to legal protocols and prioritizing the safety of all involved parties.

"The successful arrest of these individuals reflects the strong collaboration between law enforcement agencies and the military in upholding our nation's laws. The 6ID/JTFC remains committed to assisting government agencies in ensuring national security and protecting communities from illegal activities," said Gumiran.

He commended the BI, NBI, PDEA and PNP for their efforts, and reaffirmed the military's continued support for future law enforcement operations.

The arrested individuals are now in the custody of the proper authorities for further investigation and legal proceedings.

The operation, authorities said, underscores the government's commitment to enforcing immigration laws and ensuring that foreign nationals residing or conducting business in the country comply with legal requirements.
