MANILA, Philippines — Amid soaring fuel prices, traders and suppliers should refrain from exploiting the situation through hoarding and overpricing, Sen. Bong Go said on March 9.
“Do not take advantage of the situation to earn so much profit while our countrymen are suffering,” Go said.
Prices of food items have started increasing, based on reports over the weekend.
At Parañaque’s Bulungan Seafood Market, lapu-lapu or grouper fish prices rose to P400 from P300 per kilo.
Similar developments were observed in Quezon City’s Balintawak Market.
Some vendors reportedly sold bundles of fish instead of weighing per kilo for affordability.
