MANILA, Philippines — Sen. Bong Go visited the Balay Pahulayan of the Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC) in Davao City on Wednesday, as part of his annual practice of reaching out to patients and their watchers staying near government hospitals.

Go checked the condition of watchers staying at the facility as well as of patients confined in the hospital. He distributed assistance to ease their burden.

“I am fond of serving people, especially those who are in need. Every year, I am doing my best to show my love and care for the Filipinos,” Go said.

As vice chairman of the Senate committee on health, Go has been saying that recovery from an illness does not depend on patients alone, but on the presence and endurance of those who look after them.

As part of his health reform crusade, Go has been advocating access to quality health services across the country.

Programs like the Malasakit Centers, which he authored and sponsored through Republic Act 11463 or the Malasakit Centers Act of 2019, continue to serve millions of Filipinos seeking medical assistance.

“The Malasakit Center intends to benefit all Filipinos, that no one will be left behind on matters concerning health,” he said.

The facility at the SPMC remains a flagship example of how the program alleviates the financial burden of Filipino families.

Malasakit Centers are one-stop shops that help indigent patients reduced their hospital bills to the least possible amount.

As of now, there are 167 Malasakit Centers operating across the country, helping patients pay their medical expenses.
