MANILA, Philippines — GoTyme Bank has emerged as the most used Visa debit card issuer in the Philippines, highlighting rapid growth in digital payments adoption as the lender continued to expand its customer base and transaction volumes in 2025.
In a joint announcement, Visa and GoTyme Bank said the digital bank reached the top position in the local Visa debit card market, supported by strong gains in active card usage and payment activity.
GoTyme Bank said it now has more than eight million Visa debit card users nationwide, while payment volume jumped by over 150 percent year on year.
Customer deposits likewise climbed to more than P43 billion, signaling broader adoption of the bank’s digital platform and everyday transaction use.
“When banking is made simple and beautiful, customers deepen their trust and adoption with the brand. This milestone reflects the confidence Filipinos place in GoTyme Bank,” GoTyme Bank president and CEO Nathaniel Clarke said.
“Together with Visa, we will continue delivering secure, seamless everyday experiences as we push toward our goal of becoming the largest and most loved retail bank in the Philippines,” Clarke added.
The bank was also recognized by Visa for posting the highest debit payment volume growth, highest active debit cards growth and highest contactless transaction growth among issuers. It was likewise among the first Philippine issuers to roll out Google Wallet and Google Pay, expanding tap-to-pay options for clients.
Visa said the partnership reflects broader efforts to accelerate digital payments adoption in the country, in line with the government’s push toward a cash-lite economy.
“Our partnership with GoTyme is leveling up the payments experience for Filipinos, enabling innovative, safe and seamless payment experiences,” Visa Philippines country manager Jeffrey Navarro said.
GoTyme Bank has been expanding its customer acquisition strategy through free, on-the-spot Visa debit card issuance at kiosks nationwide, while introducing features aimed at boosting everyday usage, including contactless payments and mobile wallet integration.
With continued growth in active debit usage and deposit balances, the bank said it aims to further strengthen its position in the retail banking space by focusing on convenience, security and customer experience.
