Government debt hits record-high P18.16 trillion

MANILA, Philippines — The national government’s outstanding debt climbed for the fifth consecutive month, rising to a new peak of P18.16 trillion in February, as slightly higher domestic borrowing offset a decline in external loans. According to the Bureau of the Treasury (BTr), the debt stock at end-February was up 0.14 percent from the previous month.
