MANILA, Philippines — Qualified government workers will receive a P5,000 cash incentive in recognition of their dedicated service, professionalism and vital role in public service, Malacañang announced on Friday.
President Marcos has approved the release of the Productivity Enhancement Incentive (PEI) for Fiscal Year 2025, according to Presidential Communications Undersecretary Claire Castro.
The PEI will cover civilian personnel in national government agencies, state universities and colleges and government-owned or controlled corporations.
Qualified employees of local government units, local water districts, as well as military and uniformed personnel are also eligible.
Meanwhile, the Department of Education will start releasing year-end incentives to at least one million DepEd employees nationwide.
Following the official issuance of the Department of Budget and Management (DBM), the release of the P20,000 Service Recognition Incentive (SRI) will be paid in parts, starting this December.
The first tranche will amount to at least P10,000 up to P14,500 per eligible employee, while the remaining balance will be released after the approval of the request for modification of allotments.
Those entitled to the SRI include DepEd personnel with regular, contractual and coterminous appointments across central, regional, division and school offices.
A P10,000 Collective Negotiation Agreement (CNA) incentive will also be granted to eligible non-teaching personnel with regular, contractual and coterminous appointments. The CNA incentive is scheduled for release next month.
Meanwhile, a P7,000 gratuity pay will be given to contract of service and job order employees depending on their length of service rendered during the year.
However, the Alliance of Concerned Teachers (ACT) Philippines urged the DBM to immediately act on DepEd’s request to release the full amount of the SRI to eligible personnel.
ACT chairperson Ruby Bernardo said the incentive should be released before the end of the year, noting that only P14,500 is currently available from regional office cash allocations, leaving a remaining balance yet to be funded. — Bella Cariaso
