MANILA, Philippines — The Board of Investments (BOI) has granted green lane status to P6.14 trillion worth of investments as of the end of January for faster processing of permits.
Data from the BOI showed that a total 233 projects have been certified to go through green lane processing since the initiative was launched in 2023.
Green lanes were established through Executive Order 18 to accelerate strategic investments through the expedited processing of licenses and permits.
Of the total investments endorsed for green lanes, renewable energy accounted for the biggest share, with 180 projects amounting to P5.25 trillion.
Also certified for the green lane initiative are five projects involving public-private partnership, infrastructure and water with investments amounting to P416.08 billion.
The BOI also cleared nine digital infrastructure projects worth P401.69 billion for green lanes.
Other projects granted green lane status are in manufacturing (P67.04 billion), food security (P18.7 billion) and the pharmaceutical sector (P45 million).
Of the total certified investments, 17 projects worth P258.19 billion are already in operation.
The bulk of the endorsed investments are in the pre-development stage, covering 162 projects valued at P5.51 trillion.
Meanwhile, 47 projects worth P366.26 billion are under construction and seven projects amounting to P5.23 billion are in the pre-operation stage.
For January alone, the BOI endorsed the 300-megawatt (MW) San Jose onshore wind power project worth P30.92 billion for green lanes.
Last month, renewable energy firm Spotlight Power Inc. broke ground on the 49.9-MW Mabini solar power project in Pangasinan.
The groundbreaking took place within 11 months from pre-development, faster than the usual two-year timeline for similar projects.
