ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines — Three people were killed while two others were wounded when unidentified men opened fire at a speedboat that was sailing in the waters off Sulu on Monday night.
The incident occurred at around 8:35 p.m. between the villages of Tangkulan and Tara in the towns of Tapul and Siasi, respectively, according to police.
Probers said the attack was carried out by four armed men who approached the vessel in two motorized boats.
Police said that among the fatalities was a three-year-old child, while three others including a pregnant woman were reported missing.
Four others survived the attack. They were brought to a hospital along with two wounded victims for medicacal assessment and treatment.
A manhunt was launched for the assailants.
Police have yet to determine the motive for the attack.
