MANILA, Philippines — Several areas in Luzon and the Visayas may experience rain due to the southwest monsoon, locally known as "habagat," state weather bureau PAGASA said.
In its weather forecast Monday, August 17, PAGASA said the Visayas and the rest of Luzon may experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the habagat.
Metro Manila, the Cordillera Administrative Region, Ilocos Norte, Batanes, Cagayan, Nueva Vizcaya, Nueva Ecija, Tarlac, Pampanga, Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Occidental Mindoro may have cloudy skies with scattered rain and thunderstorms.
The habagat may also bring occasional rain to Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, Zambales and Bataan.
PAGASA warned that moderate to at times heavy rain may trigger flash floods or landslides in affected areas.
Meanwhile, Mindanao may experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to localized thunderstorms.
