MANILA, Philippines — From one composer legend to another.

Warner Bros. have announced that celebrated film composer Hans Zimmer will score the upcoming "Harry Potter" series on HBO Max through his music collective Bleeding Fingers.

The planned show is the second screen adaptation of the popular book series by J.K. Rowling after the film franchise that spanned 2001 to 2011.

The first three films were scored by the legendary John Williams — the themes of which have been deemed iconic by cinephiles. Williams was succeeded in the next films by Patrick Doyle, Nicholas Hooper and Alexandre Desplat.

Zimmer is no stranger to Warner Bros., having scored projects for the studio like "Interstellar," "Inception," "Blade Runner 2049," "The Last Samurai," "Driving Miss Daisy," the "Sherlock Holmes" movies, the "Dune" franchise and "The Dark Knight" trilogy.

"Harry Potter" becomes the second link between Williams and Zimmer as the former scored the 1978 "Superman" movie  while Zimmer provided music in the DC Extended Universe which included "Man of Steel" and "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice."

Bleeding Fingers Music is the collective Zimmer co-founded with Russell Emanuel and Steven Kofsky in 2013 for composers of film and television scores.

For the "Harry Potter" series, Zimmer will be joined by collective members Kara Talve and Anže Rozman, noting in a statement that the responsibility they've been given is not one they take lightly.

"The musical legacy of Harry Potter is a touch point for composers everywhere and we are humbled to join such a remarkable team on a project of this magnitude," Zimmer said. "Magic is all around us, often just beyond reach, but as in the world of Harry Potter, you simply must look for it."

Zimmer added that they hope to bring audiences that little bit closer with their score while honoring the music that came before.

The "Harry Potter" series will debut in 2027 with Dominic McLaughlin playing the titular character. Portraying his best friends Ron and Hermione are Alastair Stout and Arabella Stanton, all of them relative newcomers.

Confirmed cast members include Nick Frost, John Lithgow, Paapa Essiedu, Janet McTeer and Warwick Davis, reprising his roles in the films as Professor Filius Flitwick.
