DJs Tony Toni, Slick Rick, Sam YG, Suzy, and Gino talk about their future, months after the popular radio show ’Boys Night Out’ came to a controversial end

MANILA, Philippines – Has the radio turned silent on the hit show Boys Night Out (BNO)?

When all five hosts in the show’s history — DJs Tony Toni, Slick Rick, Sam YG, Tin “Suzy” Gamboa, and Gino Quillamor — reunited once more, they hosted a ceremonial sendoff billed “Last Night Out,” a two-hour show streamed live online.

Here, they reflected on their favorite memories from the program, as well as their sudden exit from FM station Magic 89.9, ending a run that began in 2006.

Scores of fans attended the special event, with tickets starting at P1,500 per person, at XYLO at the Palace nightclub in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig, on Wednesday, January 14.

It’s their chance, the hosts said, to thank their loyal supporters — which they didn’t get to do as BNO came to an abrupt end in September 2025 following a disagreement with the radio station’s management.

Amid the gratitude, the hosts also admit that their crew will likely no longer return to the airwaves again.

“We’ll probably never be on radio again together collectively, so I want to thank all of you,” said DJ Tony Toni, whose real name is Anthony Bueno.

“Thank you for spending this ride with me.”

The quintet also discussed their sudden exit from Magic 89.9, ending a 19-year run.

Tony Toni, who had been with Magic for 25 years, was fired by the station’s new management. Slick Rick later added that he resigned shortly after to join Tony.

The incident came months after Tony Toni ranted during the July 21, 2025 episode of BNO, targeting station management and discussing internal issues.

Gino had also resigned, noting his decision to prioritize time with his family after the new station management allegedly banned remote broadcasts via Zoom.

The BNO episode on September 30, 2025 turned out to be the last, days earlier than its supposed October 2 finale, as management abruptly canceled the show.

Suzy shared that she had a spat with program director Sarge Capulso, who allegedly told them that discussing former president Rodrigo Duterte’s arrest on the show was a “divisive topic.”

Boys Night Out ran for nearly 20 years, with the hosts discussing not just adult themes but a wide range of fun and relevant topics, airing at prime time from 6 pm to 10 pm, from Mondays to Thursdays, during the height of the show’s popularity.

During the pandemic, BNO later aired from 6 pm to 9 pm, then moved to 9 pm to 12 am during its final months.

Following their exit, Tony Toni and Slick Rick made a surprise appearance on The Morning Rush, an equally popular show on rival station Monster RX93.1 to promote “Last Night Out,” which was originally scheduled for November.

“It kind of was the biggest hole in our heart,” Slick Rick continued, “that we didn’t get a chance to say ‘thank you,’ because [the final show] was really for Tony to give him his proper sendoff.” – Rappler.com
