The two companies agreed that their collaboration can significantly enhance security capabilities of both the United States and South Korea, and that AI-based defense solutions will become an important element of each country's national security strategy in the future.

HD Hyundai has been working with Palantir on the Future of Shipyard (FOS) project since 2021. FOS refers to a future state-of-the-art shipyard that is equipped with digital technologies such as data, virtual and augmented reality, robotics, automation, and artificial intelligence (AI).

HD Hyundai plans to complete the final phase of the FOS project, the construction of an 'Intelligent Autonomous Operating Shipyard' in 2030, with the goal of achieving a 30% improvement in productivity and a 30% reduction in construction period.

In addition, HD Hyundai has been jointly developing the unmanned surface vessel (USV) 'TENEBRIS' with Palantir since last September, and is continuing collaborations with HD Hyundai Infracore. Chung also appeared in a promotional video for Palantir that was shown at the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting 2025 (Davos Forum) in Davos in January, where he introduced the blueprint of HD Hyundai's future shipyard.

"Chung is currently visiting the United States to attend CERA Week, the world's largest energy event, which is scheduled to be held in Houston, Texas, from the 10th to the 14th this month," said an official of HD Hyundai.
