MANILA, Philippines — The Met Gala is considered to be one of the biggest fashion events, but that doesn't stop a few strange outfits hitting the red carpet steps outside New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art.

This year's fundraiser event for the Costume Institute and co-chaired by Beyoncé, Nicole Kidman, Venus Williams, and Anna Wintour carried the theme "Costume Art," highlighting the human form's relationship with fashion as wearable art form.

Guests were asked to wear outfits that depict the body as a canvas — and some attendees had quite unique interpretations of this year's theme.

Model-host Heidi Klum went hard, quite literally, at the theme by showing up as a "living statue."

Heidi wore a look designed by Oscar-nominated makeup artist Mike Marino inspired by classical works. A blend of materials like latex and spandex resulted in Klum looking like a freshly-carved stone scultpure.

This look is expected from Heidi, who often dons outrageous Marino outfits for her annual Halloween parties. It is a departure, though, from her simple black dress last year, her first Met Gala appearance in 12 years.

Another much-discussed look on the red carpet was Puerto Rican rapper Bad Bunny, who arrived looking like an old man, complete with white hair, a 1995 timepiece, and a cane.

Marino was also behind the Grammy winner's aged makeup, as the singer donned an all-black Zara tuxedo he helped design.

A signature piece from his outfit was an oversized satin pussy bow around his neck, a reference to designer Charles James' "Bustle" gown, which is actually in the Costume Institute's permanent collection.

Madonna turned to her witchy side as she wore a long Yves Saint Laurent slip dress made from satin and lace. Its sheer, gray cape was so long that seven women, a coven if you will, had to carry it around her.

Completing the look referencing a painting by Surrealist Leonora Carrington were rings over satin opera gloves, leather platform boots, a long black wig, a horn in hand, and a hat with a ghost ship.

One guest showed up wearing what looked a fencing mask, and upon coming off it was revealed to be pop singer Katy Perry, her first time at the Met Gala since 2022.

The chrome headpiece made Katy look like an astronaut, a reference to her brief space flight aboard Blue Origin in April 2025. It is made by Miodrag Guberinic to go with the white Stella McCartney dress made from repurposed duchess satin.

Katy displayed humor after poking fun at AI-generated images of her attending recent Met Gala editions by wearing an opera glove with six fingers, complemented with a tarot card reveal act.

Fellow singer Sabrina Carpenter, meanwhile, wore herself, sort of, as her outfit was made of film stills from the 1954 movie "Sabrina" starring Audrey Hepburn. The "Espresso" hitmaker admitted that Hepburn's iconic movie is one of her favorite flicks.

Sabrina's eye-catching Met attire is designed by Jonathan Anderson with rhinestone film stills wrapped around a custom-made Dior slit tulle dress. Jared Ellner styled it with 48 carats worth of Chopard diamonds hanging around her.

Sabrina completed the look with tall heels, pink nails with black tips, and a headpiece that said "Sabrina" adorning her curled bob. Some social media users pointed out the entire look might be "flammable."
