MANILA, Philippines — Motorists should brace for another increase at the pumps today, with gasoline prices going up for the third straight week.

Shell, Caltex, Seaoil, Petro Gazz, PTT Philippines and Jetti are set to hike gasoline and diesel prices by P0.40 and P0.30 per liter, respectively.

Kerosene prices, meanwhile, would drop by P0.10 per liter.

The Department of Energy (DOE) attributed the increase to potential new US sanctions on Russia, potentially overshadowing the impending production hike by OPEC+.

Also exerting upward pressure on prices were the easing tariff tensions between the US and the European Union, as well as the escalating conflicts among oil-producing countries.

The rollback in kerosene prices, on the other hand, was linked to the economic slowdown in Asia and the changing energy priorities in some countries like India.

These factors, the DOE said, contributed to the “reduced demand forecasts.”
