MANILA, Philippines — The Healthcare Information Management Association of the Philippines (HIMAP) successfully wrapped up HIMSCON 2026 last October 8 and 9 at Bonifacio Hall, Shangri-La The Fort in Taguig City with healthcare leaders, industry experts, educators, technology partners and professionals to explore the future of the Philippine healthcare information management services (HIMS) sector.

With the theme Charting the Future of HIMS: Elevating Skills, Harnessing Technology, Redefining Roles while Sustaining Care at the Core, the two-day conference examined how the industry can respond to rapid technological change while strengthening the people and capabilities that drive better healthcare services.

Discussions explored how being AI-ready and having a highly skilled workforce can improve efficiency, optimize workflows and support smarter decision-making in healthcare.

Speakers and panelists emphasized that technology alone cannot drive sustainable growth, highlighting the need for workforce upskilling, continuous learning and competency-based development to help healthcare professionals transition into more specialized and higher-value roles.

AI was also presented as an opportunity to augment rather than replace human expertise, enabling teams to move beyond routine tasks toward more strategic and patient-centered work. As automation takes on transactional functions, professionals can focus on critical thinking, clinical expertise and empathy—preserving the human element at the heart of care.

“To thrive alongside digital transformation, we must embed sustainable strategies into our workforce while keeping quality care at the center of our efforts. Through strong cross-sector collaboration—across government, industry, education and tech—we will solidify the Philippines’ global leadership and deliver greater value for healthcare,” said JL Botor, president of HIMAP.

With HIMSCON 2026, the future of Philippine healthcare is anchored in bringing technology, expertise and human connection together to create an outcome-driven healthcare ecosystem.

HIMAP continues to provide a conversational space for stakeholders and industry to share ideas, challenge perspectives, build partnerships and collectively shape the next chapter of the industry.
