IN celebration of World Cancer Day on Feb. 4, Calamba Medical Center Cancer Center is launching free cancer screenings and educational sessions at an economic zone in Cabuyao, Laguna as well as its no-balance billing program for cancer.
The free screening and the cancer education sessions will be held at the Light Industry and Science Park 1 on Tuesday.
CMC Cancer Center head Dr. Arvin Baes said that the initiative is the hospital's way of observing the World Cancer Day and advancing their advocacy for wellness.
"We are providing free cervical cancer screening test called visual inspection through acetic acid, breast examinations, and introducing a prostate cancer screening program for men," Baes added.
The center's no-balance billing, on the other hand, will empower patients, regardless of gender, to ac-cess vital cancer treatment with no out-of-pocket expenses, relying solely on their coverage from the Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhilHealth).

The program will also ensure that even the most vulnerable can receive essential treatment like chemotherapy, surgery, radiotherapy, and brachytherapy without the bur-den of financial stress.
Baes said that the no-balance billing program is accessible through patients that were referred by government hospitals and institutions, and the hospital will also accept guarantee letters to support those who will fall short in their PhilHealth coverage.
The hospital will also unveil its first positron emission tomography-computerized tomography (PET-CT) scan in Calamba by the middle of 2025, which would underscore the center's commitment to deliver-ing high quality, accessible, and affordable cancer treatment.
Baes said that CMC is dedicated to bridge the gap in cancer care and making advanced treatment ac-cessible to everyone.
"At Calamba Medical Center Cancer Center, we want our patients to know they are never alone in their journey. The same exceptional services and specialists found in Manila are now available right here in Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon)," Baes said.
Calamba Medical Center is part of Metro Pacific Health, the biggest hospital chain in the country.
