HBO Max / Ollie Upton

MANILA, Philippines — The blockbuster fantasy series "House of the Dragon" is returning this June for it penultimate season.

Streaming platform HBO Max released a new trailer for the "Game of Thrones" prequel series with confirmation that the third season will premiere on June 21 (June 22 in the Philippines).

The trailer begins with Rhaenyra Targaryen (Emma D'Arcy) receiving praises from her uncle and husband Daemon (Matt Smith) and her Hand Corlys Velaryon (Steve Toussaint).

"You do things that your heart would have recoiled from before you came to the throne," says Olivia Cooke's Alicent Hightower as it cuts to Rhaenyra watching a skull burn in a fire and the introduction of James Norton as Ormund Hightower, Alicent's cousin.

In the other part of the realm, the badly burnt reigning king Aegon II Targaryen (Tom Glynn-Carney) vows to kill his brother Aemond (Ewan Mitchell), who appears to challenge someone offscreen.

"Look to the sky, doom and ruin surround us," says Fabien Frankel's Criston Cole over a clip of Aemond landing his massive dragon Vhagar. "We will all become beasts before our end."

Ringing cuts the sound over clips of Daemon, Rhaenyra, Criston, Ormund, Vhagar, and several others.

"There will be no doubt the gods have chosen to rule," says Rhaenyra clutching her crown before the title card caps off the trailer.

Returning cast members include Rhys Ifans as Otto Hightower, Harry Collett as Jacaerys Velaryon, Sonoya Mizuno as Mysaria, Matthew Needham as Larys Strong, and Phia Saban as Helaena Targaryen while other newcomers are Tommy Flanagan as Roderick Dustin, Dan Fogler as Torrhen Manderly, and Tom Cullen as Luthor Largent.

After the premiere on June 22, "House of the Dragon" will continue releasing episodes weekly until the finale on August 10. — Video from HBO Max Asia's YouTube channel
