MANILA, Philippines — President Marcos has declared Sept. 11 a special non-working day in Ilocos Norte for the commemoration of the 109th birth anniversary of his late father, former president Ferdinand Marcos Sr.

Executive Secretary Ralph Recto signed on Tuesday Proclamation 1421 declaring the holiday, to allow residents to participate in commemorative activities.

“It is but fitting and proper that the people of the province of Ilocos Norte be given a full opportunity to participate in the occasion and enjoy the celebration,” the proclamation read.

The President is expected to lead the celebration.

Aside from Ilocos Norte, Marcos also declared special non-working days in six more areas for this month.

Proclamations 1422 and 1420 declared Sept. 9 and 10 as special non-working days in Banton, Romblon and Bais, Negros Oriental, respectively.

The town of Banton will celebrate the Hanrumanan Festival, while Bais City will mark the Hudyaka Festival.

Marcos issued Proclamation 1423 declaring Sept. 15 a special non-working day in Hingyon, Ifugao for the celebration of the town’s founding anniversary, in lieu of Sept. 12, which falls on a Saturday.

Proclamation 1424 declared Sept. 21 a special non-working day in  San Mateo, Rizal for the celebration of the town’s  454th founding anniversary.

Tacurong in Sultan Kudarat will mark its 26th cityhood anniversary and the Talakudong Festival 2026 on Sept. 18, which is a special holiday as provided under Proclamation 1425.

The President issued Proclamation 1426 declaring Sept. 22 a special non-working day in Mondragon, Northern Samar for the celebration of the municipality’s 143rd founding anniversary.
