The interactive exhibit gives fans the opportunity to experience the world that SB19 built in ‘Simula at Wakas’
MANILA, Philippines – P-pop boy group SB19 was not kidding when the members said they wanted to bring fans to the ‘Simula at Wakas’ dimension. A week before their two-day kickoff concert at the Philippine Arena, enter the “Simula at Wakas Experience.”
The interactive exhibit is divided into several rooms featuring different parts that tell the story of the “Simula at Wakas” EP. From costumes to set pieces, from behind-the-scenes stories to actual memorabilia you can take home, the exhibit not only gives a glimpse of the world that SB19 created through their music, but lets fans literally step into that world.
It starts with a virtual reality room where fans can watch SB19’s performances of “DAM,” “Time,” “DUNGKA!” and “Quit” from the EP. Two out of the four videos will be played at random for each slot, and fans can expect to get a close and personal viewing experience.
(Our tip for A’TIN: Be ready because once you put on those VR glasses, they get really, really, really close to you!)
The room also features the costumes and characters from the “DAM” music video — complete with notes from the members about how their characters came to be.
Exhibit-goers can then pass through a walkway leading to the DAM gate, which opens up to the iconic DAM tree and the throne that Pablo’s character used in the music video.
The other rooms tell more about the making of the “Simula at Wakas” universe: the evolution of the logo, untold stories about the concept and tracks, and even behind-the-scenes photos during the shoots.
Portions are dedicated to each song in the track. Fans can write down notes in the “Time”-themed room. They can leave their mark and stamp their fingerprints on the artwork for “Shooting for the Stars.”
There is also a dedicated space where fans can take photos as if they’re on the set of the “DAM” music videos, with projections of the different sets on the room’s walls. Another part shows the costumes and props used in the music video for “DUNGKA!”, which touches on Filipino pop culture.
The last part of the experience is a setup of the iconic round table from the “DAM” music video — the one where the five members sat — complete with all the props in the room.
In the same room are stuff no self-respecting fan would be caught without. SB19’s official lightstick, photobooks, photocards, t-shirts, and other memorabilia are up for sale for fans.
Talking about the project, SB19 leader Pablo said they have always wanted to put up an exhibit like this one, even before the “Simula at Wakas” era. Now that they have the creative freedom and the right collaborators like 1032 lab and YouMeUs Manila, the group grabbed the opportunity.
The ‘Simula at Wakas Experience’ runs from May 24-June 29 at L4 Gateway Mall 2 in Araneta City, Cubao. Tickets can be purchased through Ticketnet online. – Rappler.com
