The woven Palarong Pambansa 2025 logo will be used for special awards during the closing ceremonies
ILOCOS NORTE, Philippines – Inabel textile weavers Jeannette Rico and Mary Ann Caoagas from Barangay Nalasin, Paoay, Ilocos Norte, have woven the Palarong Pambansa 2025 logo into traditional fabric, featuring the iconic pose of Teofilo Yldefonso, the first Filipino and Southeast Asian Olympic medalist.
The design showcases the pixelated Olympic pose of the “Ilokano Shark,” with Yldefonso placing his hands on his hips, in blue and red colors symbolizing the Philippine flag palette, integrated into the inabel textile.

A pride of the province, Yldefonso was born in Piddig, Ilocos Norte, and clinched bronze medals in the men’s 200m breaststroke in the 1928 Amsterdam Games in the Netherlands and the 1932 Los Angeles Games in the United States.
According to Xavier Ruiz, tourism supervising operations officer of the Provincial Government of Ilocos Norte, the woven Palaro logo will be used for special awards to be presented during the closing ceremonies.
“[Yldefonso] embodies the triumphs born of perseverance, and the heritage that threads every Ilocano victor,” the Ilocos Norte Tourism Facebook post reads.
Themed “Nagkakaisang Kapuluan” (United Archipelago), Ilocos Norte will host the 65th Palarong Pambansa, the country’s premier sporting event for elementary and high school athletes, from May 24 to 31, 2025.
