MANILA, Philippines — The government’s pipeline of priority infrastructure projects has reached P10.52 trillion, with three of the projects expected to be completed this year, according to the Department of Economy, Planning and Development.
DEPDev Undersecretary Joseph Capuno said in a press conference yesterday that there are 209 projects with a total indicative cost of P10.52 trillion under the government’s infrastructure flagship project (IFP) list as of September.
IFPs or priority infrastructure projects are those considered by the government as game-changing, transformative and urgently needed.
Capuno said most of the projects are in the physical connectivity sector.
The other projects involve water resources, agriculture, health, digital connectivity, power and energy, education, housing and other infrastructure.
Of the total, Capuno said three are expected to be completed this year.
Among those expected to be completed this year is the Central Luzon Link Expressway Phase 1.
“This is a 30-kilometer four-lane expressway that connects Tarlac City to Cabanatuan City in Nueva Ecija,” he said.
Also expected to be completed this year is the NLEX (North Luzon Expressway)-SLEX (South Luzon Expressway) Connector Road Project, which will extend NLEX from the end of Segment 10 in C3 Road, Caloocan to Santa Mesa, Manila.
According to Capuno, a local project for the Davao River Bridge is also expected to be completed within the year.
He said seven IFP projects worth P68.65 billion have been completed since 2023.
Meanwhile, 79 IFP projects worth P4.07 trillion are ongoing and 31 projects amounting to P1.5 trillion have been approved for implementation.
There are eight projects amounting to P283.73 billion that are up for government approval, while 44 projects worth P2.03 trillion are under project preparation. Another 40 projects with a total cost of P2.56 trillion are in the pre-project preparation stage.
