Kapuso actor JC Alcantara, one of the stars of the upcoming psychological horror movie "P77," has opened up about possessing a remarkable third eye, a unique ability that he views as both a blessing and a source of fear.
JC describes it as an intriguing advantage, allowing him to perceive the world in ways others cannot, yet he acknowledges the unsettling nature of this extraordinary gift.
The third eye symbolizes mystical intuition and insight—an inner vision and enlightenment that goes beyond what physical eyes can perceive. In JC's case, the actor said he could see ghosts.
"Advantage ito because nakaka-observe ka kung ano ang nangyayari sa paligid mo. Pero nakakatakot din because may mga nangyayaring masama. (This is an advantage because you can observe what is happening around you. But it is also scary because bad things can happen)," said JC during an interview for the film in Quezon City recently. "P77," starring Barbie Forteza, is set to open in theaters on July 30.
JC, 25, recalled realizing he had a third eye when he was a child after a ghost appeared on his brother's face.
"Bata pa noong una akong nakakita (ng multo). It was weird dahil sa face ng brother ko nagpakita yung ghost. Umiyak talaga ako. Sabi ko, 'Kuya, may multo sa mukha mo! (I was still young when I first saw (a ghost). It was weird because the ghost appeared on my brother's face. I cried. I said, 'Brother, there's a ghost on your face!)'
"Mga five times talaga nagpakita sa akin. After that pumunta kami sa Manaoag Church in Pangasinan. Paglapit ng ghost sa akin, white na siya. Okay na siya. Ang sarap sa pakiramdam na nakakatulong siya. (He appeared to me about five times. After that we went to the Manaoag Church in Pangasinan. When the ghost approached me, he was white. He was okay. It felt good to know he was helping)," the actor said.
JC said his grandmother also possesses a third eye, which they sometimes talk about. "Yung lola ko may third eye rin. Wala siyang advice sa akin when it comes to the third eye. Hindi ko talaga ineexpect na may third eye ako. Nakakatakot talaga. (Yung lola ko may third eye rin. Wala siyang advice sa akin when it comes to the third eye. Hindi ko talaga ineexpect na may third eye ako. Nakakatakot talaga.)"
His last encounter with a third eye occurred during the shoot of "P77" for GMA Pictures. He also mentioned that a spirit played with him after he moved to a new home.
"Tao talaga siya pero multo. Nade-detect ko talaga kung sino ang spirit at tao. Last encounter ko sa shoot ng 'P77.' Sa bahay din na nilipatan namin. Natutulog ako then may mga gumagalaw sa paligid ko. Pagkahiga ko, umangat yung isang buhok ko. Parang pinaglalaruan ako. (He's human but a ghost. I can detect who's a spirit and who's human. My last encounter was during the shoot of 'P77.' It was also in the house we moved to. I was sleeping when things began to move around me. When I lay down, one of my hairs stood up. It was like I was being played with)," JC said.
When asked if he talks to the ghosts, JC said: "Yes. Nagpapaalam ako. Sinabi ko sa kanila dito na ako titira. Sabi ko sa kanila hindi ako masamang tao at pwede ko rin silang tulungan. (I spoke to them. I told them I'd be staying here. I told them I wasn't a bad person and I could help them too.)"
JC mentioned that the ghosts never spoke to him during encounters, but he could sense that they needed help.
"Wala naman silang mga request or favor na sinasabi sa akin kapag nakikita ko sila. Kusa mo na lang sa kanila. May paramdam sila na meron silang kailangan. Para bang hindi pa nila tanggap na wala na sila. (They don't have any requests or favors that I can tell them when I see them. You just do it to them. You can sense that they need something. It's like they haven't yet accepted that they're gone)," he said.
JC also recalled seeing the ghost of a relative. "Na-encounter ko na rin yung anak ng tita ko. Nasa papag siya tapos inaabot niya ako. May space kasi sa ilalim ng bed so nakita ko siya. Then sa bubong namin sa province, nakita ko naman yung paa niya. Madaling araw yun. (I also encountered my aunt's son. He was on the floor, and he was reaching out to me. There was space under the bed, so I saw him. Then, on our roof in the province, I saw his feet. It was early in the morning.)
Would he consider closing his third eye? JC answered: "Kung meron magsasara pwede naman. Pero okay lang naman na open. Hindi naman nila ako ginagambala. (If someone closes, that's fine. But it's OK to be open. They don't really bother me.)"
