MANILA, Philippines — Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Jonvic Remulla has denied allegations that he beat up Bulacan Gov. Daniel Fernando.
The beating was reportedly connected to an incident along the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) involving Fernando’s security escorts and President Marcos’ youngest son Vinny.
Speaking at the Kapihan sa Manila Bay yesterday, Remulla denied that he gave Fernando a beating in his office at Camp Crame, as alleged by columnist Ramon Tulfo.
“Daniel Fernando denied it happened; I will concur with him,” Remulla said as he showed his fists and arms to prove he has no bruises from any altercation.
He said he had talked to Fernando about the NLEX issue over the phone, adding that he admonished the governor for behaving like a king when passing through the highway.
Remulla said he had received complaints that Fernando’s convoy usually occupies four lanes of NLEX, preventing other motorists from overtaking them.
Asked if the DILG would file administrative cases against Fernando, Remulla said: “Stupidity is not a crime.”
