MANILA, Philippines — Tobacco company JTI Philippines has welcomed Alan Jackson as its new general manager, who will lead the firm’s push for further growth and fight against illicit trade.
In a statement, JTI Philippines said that Jackson is taking the helm at a time when the firm is strengthening its portfolio, which includes international brands Winston, Camel, Mevius and LD, local brand Mighty, Nordic Spirit nicotine pouches and heated tobacco product Ploom Aura.
At the same time, the firm is promoting responsible business practices and intensifying efforts to address challenges affecting the tobacco industry.
Jackson is stepping into the role with over two decades of leadership experience across Asia, Africa, North America, Western Europe and the Middle East.
Since joining JTI in 2007, Jackson has held various leadership roles including general manager positions in Tanzania and Canada. He also served as marketing and sales vice president for JTI’s South Asia region.
“The Philippines is an important market for JTI, with talented people, strong partnerships and significant opportunities ahead,” Jackson said.
“My focus is on building on these strengths and continuing to grow the business responsibly and sustainably,” he added.
Under Jackson’s leadership, the firm aims to continue to promote innovation and work with stakeholders to combat illicit trade.
“Illicit trade remains a serious challenge that no single sector can address alone. Continued collaboration between government and industry will be critical to protecting government revenues and maintaining a fair and competitive market,” Jackson said.
The new general manager also intends to put greater focus on employees’ well-being, while implementing programs to support communities.
“What makes a business strong over the long term is its people,” Jackson said.
“Our people are at the heart of JTI Philippines’ success and we remain committed to fostering an environment where they can grow, contribute and make a meaningful impact,” he also said.
JTI started operations in the Philippines in 2000 with JT International (Philippines) Inc.
At present, JTI has a market office and global services center located in Taguig City, as well as a manufacturing facility in Malvar, Batangas.
In addition, it has nearly to 40 branch offices across the country and employs close to 5,500.
