MANILA, Philippines — Julian Estrada, son of Senate President Pro Tempore Jinggoy Estrada, clarified that he and his cousin Jefferelly Vitug were victims of an unprovoked attack in Boracay over the weekend.
"To set the record straight... there was no fight. It was an unprovoked attack. Jelo and I were already walking away from a peaceful night, heading home, when one of them walked up, said a few words, and threw the first punch," Julian wrote in an Instagram Story on Sunday night.
The actor and musician went on to describe the incident, saying what followed "wasn't a scuffle, it was a group jumping." He also expressed dismay at online commenters who suggested he "deserved" the attack.
"Funny how loud people get when they're hiding behind screens... twisting a story they weren't even there for. This wasn't some bar fight. We weren't looking for trouble, and we sure as hell didn't start any. But I guess it's easier for strangers to believe the version that fits their bias."
Julian reminded social media users to be more mindful of what they post online. "Before you speak on someone else's pain, make sure you know the truth — because what you say says more about you than it ever will about me."

He ended his statement by thanking those who reached out. "Your support didn't go unnoticed. I'm taking time to rest and move forward. That's all there is to it."
Julian, 29, and his cousin Jefferelly, 24, were attacked by three men while vacationing in Boracay. Julian sustained a head injury and a chipped toenail, while Jefferelly suffered a nose injury.
According to initial police reports, the two were walking from OM Bar toward D'Mall when three young men who had been following them suddenly attacked.
One of the suspects allegedly told Jefferelly, "You've been arrogant at the bar," before punching him. When Julian tried to intervene, the attackers ganged up on him. The two were later brought to Ciriaco S. Tirol Hospital.
Police said charges have already been filed against the suspects, who are reportedly local residents.
